Rockpoint's Puppy Health Guarantee

Use of the dog:

It’s agreed between the Breeder and Buyer that this canine is being purchased as a family companion or for tasks fitting to its breed such as a therapy dog, search and rescue, herding or hunting.

We agree that the dog is not purchased for resale, nor will it be used or trained for activities that are illegal or for which it is not suited by reason, temperament, or conformation.

Specifically, it will not be used as a guard or attack dog, or to fight other animals.

Health:

The Breeder guarantees the dog to be in a healthy condition and is free from any illness at the time of sale.

The Sire and Dam have been genetically tested for the predisposed diseases of their breed, and have been determined free and clear of genetic defects. Size of a puppy is not guaranteed as genetics can not be guaranteed.

In case the dog would have any genetic disease which is sufficiently serious after getting checked by two licensed veterinarians, one selected by the Breeder,  the Breeder agrees to:

    1. Replace the dog with one of equivalent quality from the first litter bred by the Breeder, or at the Breeder's option.
    2. Refund the paid price, minus the non-refundable deposit.

The Buyer is required to take the puppy to a licensed veterinarian within days after taking possession of the puppy for a general health exam. The buyer should have scheduled an appointment with your veterinarian prior to picking up your puppy. If during this health exam the puppy is found to have a life-threatening health problem, the Buyer must return the puppy at the buyers cost with the Veterinarian’s written confirmation as to the health problem. Upon return of the puppy along with the written Vet confirmation, the Buyer will receive another puppy of equal value if one is available, otherwise, the purchase price of the puppy will be refunded to the Buyer. If the puppy is not taken to a licensed veterinarian within the three days, the Health Warranty is void.

The dog may be returned to the Breeder for any reason within 36 hours after the purchase, provided that the dog has not been damaged in anyway. No monies will be refunded until the Breeder has found a new, suitable home for the returned puppy. At that time, the refund will be whatever was originally paid minus the deposit, $35 a day boarding fees, any fees incurred by the Breeder until a new home is found and any difference in the original price.

The Breeder warrants the health of the puppy for one year after the date of the sale against any genetic hereditary defects involving the hips, heart, liver and kidneys. Both parents have been genetically tested for their breeds predisposed diseases and are genetically clear.  In the event the puppy exhibits symptoms of a suspected debilitating congenital defect, the Buyer must supply any requested veterinary records to the Breeder. If it is determined the puppy does have a genetic disorder that is identified within one year of purchase, the Buyer has the option of a replacement puppy from the next available litter. The puppy will be returned to the breeder at the buyers expense. Shipping fees will not be refunded and if it becomes necessary to ship a replacement puppy, those fees are to be paid by the Buyer. If in the unfortunate event, the puppy expires, an autopsy must be performed which shows a congenital defect as the reason for the death. Autopsy will be done at buyers expense. A written statement from the veterinarian must be provided. This warranty is void in the event of an undeterminable or inconclusive diagnosis.

The Breeder will not provide a refund or exchange for any puppy injured or sick (due to non-genetic disease) after leaving the Breeder’s premises. Buyers are encouraged to limit the exposure of their puppy to other dogs and outside high traffic dog areas until the puppy is at least 16 weeks old and has received all of it's vaccinations.

This contract does not cover viral illnesses, infections, improper bites, hernias, hypoglycemia, kennel cough, mites, ear infections, fleas, and worms, Guardia or Coccidosis/Coccidia. It also does not include any illness due to the ingestion of foreign objects, food, chemicals or physical injury. It is to be clearly understood, that the Breeder does NOT, under any circumstances, accept responsibility for any veterinarian and/or health care expense for such noted health issues.

THIS GUARANTEE DOES NOT COVER ANY HEALTH ISSUES CAUSED BY NEGLECT OR INJURY, OR IMPROPER CARE IN ANY WAY. IN THE EVENT ANYTHING HAPPENS, THE PUPPY CAN ALWAYS BE RETURNED TO THE BREEDER (AT THE BUYERS EXPENSE).

Ownership Responsibilities:

The Buyer agrees to keep the dog in a humane environment where the new owner would properly train and care for it. The dog will be properly cared for and vaccinated against infectious diseases as recommended by a certified veterinarian.

The dog will get proper socialization and training. The Breeder strongly recommends permanent identification by microchip or tattoo.

Spay/Neuter:

The Breeder does not require a puppy be spayed/neutered, but  the  Breeder will rebate to the Purchaser $25.00 of the purchase price upon receipt of a certificate of spay or neuter from a qualified veterinarian, provided that the dog has not previously been used for breeding as an incentive to spay/neuter.

Right of Recovery/Placement:

If the Buyer won’t be able to keep the dog or provide a suitable home as per this contract, the dog will be returned to the Breeder.

The Buyer agrees to notify the Breeder if any problem or situational change arises and will not leave the dog in a shelter, sell, or be given away. If the Breeder finds out that the dog has been sold or given away without being informed by the Buyer, the Breeder will take legal action, and the Buyer who signed this contract will be held responsible for all legal expenses incurred.

The Buyer is encouraged to provide basic obedience trainingwith their puppy within the first year of owning their dog. Brushing your puppies coat is particularly important with this breed and professional grooming is needed every 6-12 weeks to prevent matting of the coat.

Initial puppy socialization will be done by the breeder, but it is the buyer’s responsibility to continue that education and further develop desired behavioral traits.

All deposits are deducted from the sales price and are non-refundable. Buyer agrees to the terms of the non-refundable deposit. Buyer agrees to pay the full amount due prior to taking ownership of the puppy.

The Buyer agrees to not pursue registration through an alternative registration such as ACA, etc. for the sole purpose of breeding. If you find you are unable to keep your puppy for any reason, PLEASE contact the breeder for assistance in rehomingyour dog.  The buyer agrees to never place the puppy in a shelter, pound or similar facility or research laboratory.

The buyer has been provided documentation that the puppy has been wormed and immunized as noted below.

Deworming medicine given at 4, 5 & 7 weeks.

First 5- way immunizations given between 6 & 8 weeks of age.
